Uses of Streets

Bear in mind that Ditchling Rise already has sites for trees which have been felled. Round Hill has limited space for community parklets (like those in Hackney), though we did plant a mountain ash tree at the site of the 2004 Mayo Road / Richmond Road road closure. A single tree, where it won't get knocked into, can make a difference. With bike theft on the increase, there is some scope for covered lockable cycle storage to replace existing, especially if the popularity of e-bikes continues to grow. Our City Plan already has a target for providing charging points for electric vehicles. Streets such as Belton Road already provide an example of greening the frontage of their terraces with plants and even tomatoes in pots.
