If any of you are interested in helping with a new project to lay a new hedge in Hollingbury woods - to learn new skills and get some fresh air and exercise, do join us this Sunday as above. You don't have to live locally to join in. Buses 26/46 and 50 stop by the woods or easy parking. You can come just for an hour if the whole morning doesn't suit you.
We may also be planting some bluebell bulbs if we get enough people.
New project in the woods
Friends of Hollingbury and Burstead Woods is about to start a new project to enhance woods on the northern edge of Brighton. The group will be creating a new hedge at the Southern end of the woods to help reduce problems of litter and damage to the woods. This work is supported by the Council's Ranger service and will be part paid for by a grant from the Woodland Trust.
Anyone wishing to come along to help or learn more about woodland management and laying hedges is welcome. This project will continue throughout the winter either on the first Saturday or Sunday of each month. For more information see

Or contact Gill on 01273 505060 01273 505060 or Adrian on 01273 508620 01273 508620
We meet outside the old brick and flint barn (red star on map) adjacent to the western entrance to the Roedale allotments, which is accessed from the Ditchling Road via the road to the Lower Roedale cottages. The sessions are held on alternate Saturdays and Sundays on the first weekend of every month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
All members and others are welcome to join us. There is no obligation to stay for the whole morning or to attend every work day: it is entirely up to you how many hours you do or how often you come, but you will always be made very welcome. Gloves and tools are provided but wear sturdy footwear. For tasks such as tree thinning and planting a new hedge, training is given. The work is not too strenuous and we always stop for a break with tea, coffee and biscuits provided.
Meet outside the old brick and flint barn adjacent to the western entrance to the Roedale allotments. Phone 07719 943237 on the day, if lost!
