The Round Hill Picnic Party Much organisation went into our main event for 2009 (held on Saturday 20th June) and it was well supported by stall-holders and other residents.

Carelet's new proposal involves
Condition 16 of the MRF's / WTS's operating conditions states that All vehicle access doors to the Waste Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility shall remain closed except to enable the ingress and egress of vehicles. However, Condition 16 cannot spare local residents the nuisances of tipping noises and escaping smells when the doors of the MRF/WTS are opened for prolonged periods of time, whether through a queue of vehicles waiting to get in or a vehicle inside blocking access.

The Council's Core Strategy From the past to the future - following the recent public consultation, a final version of the document will now be created for submission to government in May 2009. In the meantime, you may still wish to refer to the current draft of The Core Strategy containing the planning policies proposed for the next 20 years. Lewes Road and London Road are among 7 areas where a higher density of development is proposed.
A Dump with no space for landscaping - The Case Officer, who was "minded to grant planning permission", knew that the Council as landlord had not given Veolia enough land. This was not made clear in the Plans List presented to those who took the decision. We are left with an eyesore - a very unfortunate case of 'urban cramming'.
Open Market Regeneration - What future plans have been floated for Brighton's Open Market?
Green Space - PMP's forthcoming report, designed to establish city-wide standards on provision of open space in Brighton and Hove, will be a 'background paper' to inform emerging planning policy. But will it consider the needs of Round Hill or act to steer developers towards our inaccessible hillside plots on privately owned land?

Draft SPD on Sustainable Building Design - The consultation period on this important planning document is now closed. The proposed SPD sets tighter requirements in line with greater concern about carbon emissions and wasteful use of raw materials, water and energy.
